چکیده
First described in 1907 by James Ramsay Hunt, Hunt syndrome is a recurrence (reactivation) of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) affecting the geniculate ganglion, secondary to decrease cell-mediated immunity. The strict definition peripheral facial nerve palsy accompanied erythematous vesicular rash on ear. We report 57-year-old female immunocompetent patient complaining otalgia, small vesicles Ramsey Zone. She does not complain fever, hearing loss, nausea, vomiting or dizziness. There was no palsy, reduction taste sensation, ataxia nystagmus, Romberg sign negative. Our targets two three criteria needed for diagnosis syndrome. began take Acyclovir-Steroid (AS) therapy very early with good outcome. This suggests that prompt and management improve outcome prevent occurrence

Ramsay Hunt syndrome (RHS) is the reactivation of herpes zoster in the geniculate ganglion and typically presents the triad of ipsilateral peripheral type facial paralysis, ear pain, and erythematous vesicles in the external auditory canal and auricle. However, some unusual variants may occur. Here we present a patient of atypical RHS with uncommonly extensive dermatomal involvement of cranial ...

Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a rare complication of herpes zoster which results from the reactivation of the latent varicella-zoster virus in the geniculate ganglion. Although facial nerve is the most common affected nerve in Ramsay Hunt syndrome, other cranial and cervical nerves can also be affected. We present an atypical case of Ramsay Hunt syndrome in a 42-year-old male, with cervical nerve inv...

Clinical studies were performed on 325 patients with Ramsay Hunt syndrome who were treated in the Facial Nerve Clinic at Ehime University Hospital between 1976 and 1995. The clinical manifestations of Ramsay Hunt syndrome were various. Three major symptoms, auricular vesicles, facial paralysis and vestibulo-cochlear dysfunction, were found in 57.6% of the patients although these symptoms did no...

Sixteen cases of Ramsay Hunt syndrome were investigated concerning the prognosis of facial nerve palsy, hearing impairment, and vestibular disorder. The satisfactory prognosis of facial nerve palsy was achieved in those cases which a good response was evoked by the maximal stimulation test as well as in cases of Bell's palsy. And also, the satisfactory prognosis of hearing impairment was achiev...
